September Long

We left on friday afternoon with Kristin and Jansen and Casey and Mrs. CK (Sarah's mom and cabin owner). Our first stop was near Coleman along the highway at a Chip Wagon. It was a bit pitiful, but Mads really wanted to stop and was screaming up a storm. The poutine was actually really good.

The next stop was a bit further down the road in BC, at Sparwood. They have the worlds largest truck apparently and Kristin thought JJ and Bobs would appreciate it.

The above photo is hilarious. It took about 4 takes to get it... and it was the last one. Bobs had enough of posing and not understanding what it was all for. Casey is in the middle. Funny how the boys had to stick their hands out.

Sarah and her husband Kris also invited Kris' parents and brother to the cabin for the weekend. They brought their boat and camper. The saturday was nice and warm and we went to lake Koocanusa over to a sand bank island in the middle with their boat. 

KOO(Kootenays)CAN(Canada)(USA)(United States of America). It goes all the way down to Montana.

On sunday onwards, it rained. We found other ways to enjoy the outdoors. JJ brought his entire Thomas the Train tracks and trains. This kept them very busy inside in the cosy cabin.

There was a Farmer's Market in the little village where the cabin is located, and we bought local BC fruit. This watermelon is yellow - and it was delicious.

Sadly, the cabin is now for sale. Bobs and JJ enjoyed the company of older men and loved to sit around the propane fire pit. Generally there is a fire ban in BC most summers.

In the photo below, I got a bit silly. I got Daddy the plaid insulated jacket from Costco for only $11.99. Daddy loves plaid, but doesn't usually have a place to wear this jacket. The other guys on the trip all brought theirs too. 

Everyone went home on monday, but we decided to stay an extra day at the Best Western in Fernie. They had two hot tubs and a pool and a Boston Pizza attached to the hotel, so we knew it was the right place to finish off our vacation.

On the drive home, we stopped at Chain Lakes on the Alberta side. It has a great playground for Bobs. 

Now we are home, and are sad that summer is over, but glad we had our last hurrah.
