Halloween!!!!

Another Halloween Sneakpeak

Halloween is this evening. Just like last year, we went to Mormor and Morfar's house for lunch and dressed up for them. Bobs is a Construction Worker. Mads is... well... a blue bear or something. I didn't want to spend money on a costume so we used an existing outfit that has ears on the hood. Bobs' didn't cost a penny either. He already has the tools for toys and the hat was Daddy's from his field days. It fits Bobs just barely at the smallest setting, with a toque underneath.

Mads has been waking up really early lately. Around 5:30am. This doesn't bode well for the time change coming up next week - Fall Forward. It means he will be up at 4:30 am. Yikes!

Cute Comparisons

Mads sits up and Bobs tries to go Potty

Mormor came over on tuesday and we made an apple cake with apples from her garden that she was happy to get rid of. We also coloured a face on a paper bag to make a big mask.

Mads likes to sit up for longer periods of time.

Over the weekend, we went to Kristin's place and she carved our pumpkin for us.

Here are all the boys within the same camera shot. I knew I had to get a photo fast.

Shawn is now in the hospital. His bone marrow transplant actually takes place today. The procedure is much like receiving a regular blood product. The recovery will be difficult and long, however, and the chemo and treatments leading up to the transplant were arduous. Keep him in your prayers today.

Photos from Kristin's Camera

This photo is neat because it was taken while Bobs was staying at Joachim and Kristin's while Mads was being born at the hopsital. This is his first look at his little brother from a photo Daddy sent using his blackberry.

Kids Leukemia Kitchen

Mads plays with Bobs' toys when Bobs is napping.

It has been extra busy around our house lately. Our friend Shawn is in town and is staying with us while he prepares for a bone marrow transplant next week. We are going back and forth to the hospital with him where we can. Mads cheered up a waiting room on tuesday. After next week, Shawn will be at the hospital recovering and getting better for about 5 weeks and then he will stay with us again for awhile until he can go back to Edmonton.

A few loose ends need to be tied up with our kitchen. Then throw laundry, groceries, naptimes and meals into the mix, and you have a busy busy house! I am trying to convince Shawn to start a blog about his experience as a way to let his friends know how he is doing. I'll be sure to add a link if it happens.

A Nice Fall Weekend

Tracy is holding Mads here. Her boyfriend connected our gas stove as he is a plumber, and she came over with her 10 year old son Aiden. He and Bobs played in the basement with the trains. Bobs was just so in awe of Aiden. Mads got to play with Tracy.

Mads enjoys standing and playing with toys in that position. He is still not able to sit on his own though. It is interesting to see the different development stages of the boys. Bobs was sitting by now, but he wasn't able to roll around to the same extent that Mads is. They are also napping now, at completely different times.

The Wiggles Concert

We went to the Wiggles concert yesterday at 2:30 after picking up daddy from work. We were a bit unsure as to how things would go. When we got to the Saddledome, Bobs asked where Murray ( the red Wiggle) was? We made sure to bring his guitar so he could play along with them if he felt like it.

We had floor seats, but it was still far enough back that Bobs couldn't see that well. Mads started crying as soon as they came on the stage. He didn't particularly appreciate Captain Featherswords voice.

Daddy walked around with Mads and I held Bobs up to see. He refused to stand so I had to make a seat with my arms and hold him up. He was quite timid. When Daddy came back, I took Mads up to some other seats - the cheap seat area - and he stood on my lap and shouted at the stage and started having a great time. It was quieter further back. Later Bobs and Daddy joined us in our new found seats and we could sit back and relax more.

Towards the very end, Bobs started dancing a bit. When Jeff and Captain Feathersword came up real close to us, Bobs didn't seem to be phased. But in the last two songs, he asked Daddy is he could go back down on the floor near the stage. He wanted to get as close as possible. He did some of the gestures to "Hot Potato" and at the end when they left the stage he said "Bye bye Wiggles".

All in all, it was a fun family adventure and I am glad even Mads enjoyed it.

Eating Shreddies

Books

Mads is growing so quickly, I have to remember to bring out the older baby toys so he can enjoy them before he outgrows them. He is a bit too aggressive with real books, as he wants to hit the pages and eat them and rip them. The Look, Rattle and Chew book from AMK (for Bobs) is perfect and he loves it.

As you can see, Mads gets dressed first in the morning because he is the easiest to dress. Then it is Bobs and then finally me.

Bobs is all Thomas the Train obsessed. I let him watch the Thomas DVD's (or as Bobs calls them, DDD's) from the library, first thing in the morning before we get going somewhere.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving. Here are a few updates from the kitchen. Daddy and Grandpa did an incredible job. I feel so fortunate. It's all too good to be true.

We have also had great weather lately with 20 degree weather everyday since Grandpa got here.

A few things are left to do with the kitchen of course. New appliances, countertop to be ordered, backsplash and some details, especially around the island.

Grandpa didn't take many breaks. If he wasn't working on the kitchen, he was playing with Erik.

We did have a wonderful thanksgiving dinner with Mormor and Morfar. They brought over all the food. We had cornish hens.

Bobs adores the men in his life. And so he should.
