Jono's wedding reception was at the Ranchmen's Club in the evening and there were German Leiderhosen musicians playing, as well as a Dragon dance to honour each of their heritages.
We left early the next morning for the cabin so we could join our friends for Thanksgiving.
It was Grandma's first time at Gull Lake.
This time there were 7 kids in total.
We had pies keeping warm on the wood stove.
Everyone brought a dish for our vegetarian (nearly vegan if we hadn't used butter) meal.
I found a recipe on Pinterest of course that I wanted to try as the main course. It was a portobello mushroom wellington. Quite the undertaking. Good thing Grandma chops vegetables like a pro (and cooks better than me).
Elliott & Seffy's Grandma was there too with a great niece of hers who is nearly 5 years old.
We burned the puff pastry a little bit. Oops... but otherwise the meal was fantastic.
We had homemade apple pie that Mads tried.
And loads of pumpkin pie and whipped cream.
Oooooof.
After dinner, all our guests left and our family stayed the night. There is no way we could have all fit in the cabin and maintained our sanity.
Oh and it was also Grandpa's birthday so we had more dessert. Great aunt Jane always thinks we eat so much in these blog photos. I can't deny that.
We had to take two cars up to the cabin. The subaru we borrowed from Mormor and Morfar unfortunately had a flat tire the next morning so we had to drive it into Sylvan Lake. Fortunately Canadian Tire was able to fix it after we waited a few hours. Not a bad place to be stuck waiting.
