Rideau Hall & The Ottawa River

Yesterday evening we were running away from an oncoming storm. Grandma and Grandpa live a block away from Rideau Hall and her gardens. Every afternoon, the kids have gone for little walks as the grounds are open until dusk.

There is a neat fountain where when you stand and look into the water, you can see everyone else's reflection except your own. This is the viewpoint of which you are supposed to govern.

There is a great mix of houses in the neighbourhood.

Grandma and Grandpa live on the left hand side of this house.

Today we had cooler weather so we spent the morning at the Ottawa river looking at inukshuks that a local artists has made each year since 1986.

Mads and Bobs tried making one of their own.

We went to Westboro beach down the river afterwards.

Mads brought his "weee - oohhh weee - ohhh"

The Changing of the Guards

Mads and Grandpa have bonded well. Mads will only let Grandpa do things for him. Nobody else.

We went to see the changing of the guards today along Elgin.

We also checked out the locks in the Rideau Canal.

We finished off with a stop at Somerset Park. Did you know Bobs is all into sign language? He can do the entire alphabet from memory. He loves it.

Mads and Bobs visit Ottawa

We made it to Ottawa to visit Grandma and Grandpa and Aunty P! The weather is even weirder here. On and off rain showers, and the grass is extremely dry from the very hot weather they have had all summer.

Grandpa and grandpa moved into their new house just a few days before we arrived. It is located a few blocks from Prime Minister Stephen Harper, and another few blocks from the Governor General.

We have already been bowling in one of the hallways.

See how dry the grass is at Stanley Park?

This morning we went to Lac Leamy. It wasn't that crowded because the weather was a bit cooler and it's also not a holiday today in Quebec.

Aunty P was able to join us for a picnic.

Thunderstorms & Cherries

It's been wonky weather at home lately.

Daddy pulled out his old lego sets and played with the boys while he had a few days off.

Mads likes the Nanking cherries in the backyard. Bobs squeezes out the pits for Mads.
