La Jolla and Balboa Park

We stayed overnight in La Jolla on our way back into San Diego. Sadly, it was still raining quite a bit, but when it stopped for a little while, we went to the playground by the beach.

We found a mall to hang out at while we waited out the rain again, and then we headed out to Children's Beach again where we went two years ago ( but didn't bring our camera to!)

La Jolla has some beautiful cliffs and seals love to hang out at Children's Beach, an old swimming area from the earlier part of the century that is now only for seals.

Mads loves watching the baby seals with the parents. He made all kinds of observations.

Here is a newborn. I noticed the umbilical cord was still there.

Mads noticed a dalmation baby seal at one point.

The clouds and the waves got a bit crazy again so we went back to the mall for supper.

On the way back up to the car, we saw a couple getting married down behind one of the cliffs. It looked like a very small, but romantic ceremony.

The next day, we went to our favourite Balboa Park that we also enjoyed last time. The rain was persistent all morning. It was a bit depressing.

We went into one of the many museums in the park - a model train museum. This cheered the kids up.

We also took a trolley and by mid afternoon, the rain cleared up.
