Bragg Creek and Griffith Woods

Sadly, I broke our camera today in Bragg Creek. I dropped it on some rocks by the river. Maybe we will recover the photos, but for now, I have some ipod photos from our friday hike in nearby Griffith Woods. The boys were amazing. We decided to hike from the Constructed Wetlands by our house all the way to Griffith. I think it's around 2 km's.

I ran back to where the car was parked and parked it at the end of the walk to meet them.

Today we went to Elbow Falls just past Bragg Creek, and then to a playground in Redwood Meadows.

We are out of ideas for what to do tomorrow. Any ideas? Heritage Park? Farmer's Market? It's rather windy out, but otherwise the weather has been beautiful.

Visiting and old friend and her kids

And old friend of mine moved back to the city for the summer. We had such a hard time finding the time to get together because of busy summer schedules. Finally we had our visit a day before she is moving back to Ontario with her family.

The kids got along very well. Not surprising since they are all close in age.

Teo is all about the Puss in Boots movie and loves to dress up like him. My kids haven't seen that movie yet.

We had a run around in the field behind the house for awhile.

Learning chess

I suggested that Daddy show Bobs the game of chess. I figured he would like all the rules and the placement. He does for the most part. He also played a few games of checkers.

Mads meanwhile, is into his monster trucks, Ottawa double decker bus, and hot wheels. He can go for an hour by himself talking about what is happening.

The Zoo

On saturday morning, we decided to have our annual trip to the Zoo.

The kids are looking at an Emu here.

Mads enjoyed looking at the monkeys the most.

There were some mascots dressed up like a giraffe, a hippo and a tiger. Mads went up to one and spread his arms open. I think he wanted the tiger to pick him up! The tiger bent down and gave him a really big hug.

After our first train ride, we ran into some friends Brooklyn and Tyson, so we rode the train again with them.

We also rode the carousel twice. Our boys both don't like the moving horses. They always prefer the wagon seat with their parents. I was able to persuade Mads to try the up and down horsie once though and he liked it.

Izzy's Birthday

A few last pics from Ottawa.

Grandma and Grandpa read the boys books every night before bed.

Daddy brought home some collectable items and Bobs made himself some extra toes.

It was Izzy down the street's 4th birthday party today.

Izzy has a Baba who makes amazing looking food.

Mads started up a game of polo.

There was a pinata to break open.

And princess tiaras to wear.
